Kakenya Ntaiya & Belle Knox Should Meet Each Other - They're Joined By Two Very Different Educational Journeys

Belle Knox is running the media circuit and while on The View she admitted to Barbara Walters that she began watching porn at age 12.  With that admission, people should start to discredit a teenager that claims she's doing this as a prevention against the loss of her sexual autonomy instead of it merely being a non-conventional way to pay costly college tuition, as she's also claimed as being what spurred her to pursue this 'profession'.  If you've read my post on Linda Lovelace you will see that Knox is subscribing herself to predatory patriarchal capitalism and has been effectively brainwashed into deluding herself that she's living out a sexual fantasy of her own instead of being groomed to live out a kyriarchal fantasy that was imposed upon her delicate psyche from unchecked externalities.

Knox also said on The View "...in porn, I’m in a safe, controlled environment where I set the boundaries, I set the rules," but that is a blatant lie.  Because had you read 'The Duke University Porn Star, Adolescentophilia, and Predatory Capitalism Connection' and all of the included hyperlinks, you would already know she had tearfully compromised such boundaries thus proving that Knox is in a controlled environment where she follows rules and does not set them.

On the Bethenny show Knox discussed her future aspirations of becoming a civil rights lawyer! Bethenny understandably responded: “Those are two very different brands: being a civil rights lawyer and being a porn star.” Knox tried to draw parallels between the two professions, saying both 'professions' were about First Amendment rights and women’s rights advocacy.

I wonder if civil rights lawyers ever need Handlers?  If you are wondering what a Handler is, it is another porn occupation that thanks to Shelley Lubben of The Pink Cross Foundation I'm aware of.  A Handler is a person that moves, positions, transports, and basically babysits the porn actress who is so fucked up on drugs or alcohol while on set that they aren't even in charge of their own autonomy much less sexual autonomy anymore and therefore requires a Handler.  I'm unable to find the exact video where Lubben sheds a light on this other porn 'profession' that doesn't get as much chatter as say a job as a Fluffer does and I know that Lubben's foundation gets a lot of flack sometimes but her website with its wealth of information is not one to easily dismiss, so if a reader would like to determine the legitimacy of that profession of Handler, I can only direct you to the trove of videos on Lubben's site to sort through on your own.  She's a born-again Christian so be prepared for ideologies of that vein but it should not discredit her industry experiences or insights, they still should be objectively heard out.

Knox also dangerously fails to realize that she's fallen into a lobster trap of a 'profession', even Jenna Jameson after swearing to never do porn again and keeping that vow for five years, ended up breaking it.  And Jameson, by all consideration, 'made it' as a porn starlet.  However by November 15, 2013 Jameson in an interview with Entertainment Tonight said she hadn't seen her kids in four months because she has to pay a mediator $600 an hour just to spend time with them.  In the same interview she went on to say she has no car, and is homeless thanks to her estranged husband.

Hopefully had Knox had more life experience she'd come to the conclusion that pornography is a failure of the labor market, plain and simple.  She'd also realize her own crass sexploitation.   Knox would also realize that it was a mere six years ago that she was 12 and that what she's now submerging herself in, isn't going to lift any other 12 year old girls up.

Kakenya Ntaiya born in the small village of Enoosaen, Kenya and engaged at age 5, had to strike a deal with her father that she would undergo the traditional Maasai rite of passage of clitoris circumcision if he would let her go to high school.  Ntaiya went through the ceremony about the same age that Knox began watching porn.  Ntaiya continued her education and went to college, she eventually negotiated with her village elders to build a school for girls in her community and that changed the lives of an additional 125 women.  In her TED Talk she explains that she grew-up living in a world where mothers are blamed for their daughters rapes and out of wedlock births, and that mothers are punished and beaten for such offenses of their daughters.  Ntaiya comes from a culture where often females are robbed of their sexual autonomy and are subjected to sexual violence.

When Ntaiya came to America she proclaimed she realized that, "I did not have to trade part of my body for an education."

But why is Belle Knox trading part of her body for an education and why is she touting that sale as a sexual liberation?  And why are other women inclined to celebrate Knox's proclamations of 'empowerment'?  Because the world of porn and sex-work isn't a one size fits all world.

For every 'success story' of 'female empowerment' through 'sex-work' there are thousands upon thousands of other stories of the more real coerced, exploited, trafficked, and desperate, for male or female, adult or child, voluntary via kyriarchal externalities or involuntary via kyriarchal repressive sexploitation, that don't include personal successes or empowerment for the people that work in sex to live. I'm all about social change but Knox is selling herself two times over, and for her to think that she can just leave the whirlpool of porn whenever she wants and just go be a lawyer when drug addicts and ex-criminals and gay people and those that have seen combat and those that have filed bankruptcy face job discrimination everyday is mind boggling.

The only real interview I want to see Belle Knox have in the foreseeable future, is one across the table from Kakenya Ntaiya.  Because if Knox was overweight, homely, and going to a community college instead of Duke--nobody would give a shit if she was doing porn or not to achieve a required income since most of us all lack a guaranteed income.

I didn't really want to write about Knox again but Kakenya Ntaiya's story was inspiring, whereas Knox's story is incidence.

Gender Disparity In Medical Research - Damsels In Real Distress

Over two decades ago The National Institute of Health (NIH) Revitalization Act of 1993 was passed by Congress and signed into law by President Clinton, supposedly setting the stage for major advances in women’s health by requiring that all NIH-funded medical research include women and minorities. Yet despite the expanded mandate, disparities still remain.

The Revitalization Act of 1993 mandated, for the first time, the inclusion of women and minorities in research funded by The National Institutes of Health. Before then, medical researches--working on every scientific stage from early discovery to clinical trials--were encouraged to include women but, as it was never enforced, rarely did. Male mice were almost exclusively used in laboratory experiments.

The now notorious "baby aspirin study", which found that taking a baby aspirin a day helps prevent heart attacks, was found to be conducted entirely on men and in application?--the women taking aspirin had about the same number of heart attacks as the participants taking a placebo.  It was later found in a different research study that the risks of regular aspirin intake outweighed the benefits.

Before 1990, the term “women’s health” was limited primarily to reproductive health. To the extent if there was any interest at all in the field, it was in terms of family planning, maternal and child health, and abortion. While these are important aspects of women’s health, they are not the drivers of the women’s health field, which, thanks to the Revitalization Act connotes the overall health of womenincluding an acknowledgement of sex differences in the physiology of men and women down to the molecular level.

According to Dr. Paula Johnson--a study co-author, on the 'Sex-Specific Medical Research - Why Women’s Health Can’t Wait' report from Boston’s Brigham and Women’s Hospital that found fewer women than men are still involved in clinical trials on new drugs and medical devices despite the 1993 legislature--that there are sex differences throughout every organ system.

In this short interview with Dr. Johnson, she outlines the need for a women's heath equity plan and has been a pioneer in the treatment and prevention of cardiovascular disease, Dr. Johnson conceived of and developed one of the first facilities in the country to focus on heart disease in women.  This is an extremely important endeavor that the good doctor has accomplished, especially when cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death in women.  So yeah, maybe instead of the hyper-focus on the encasement outside of women's chests, we should really be caring about what's happening behind them.

(Instead of "Save The Boobies" - shouldn't we be hearing more"Stop Breaking My Heart", so we can finally have a future free of breast cancer ads that look suspiciously* like lesbian porn?)

Women that are non-smokers are three times more likely to die of lung disease then men who are non-smokers and we still don't know why.  Despite me being a medical novice I'll ignorantly point out that the "health and beauty" industry caters more to women with all of their innumerable beauty products that are probably chock full of cancer causing antigens.  But apparently getting medical funding to prove or disprove my theory will be hard to come by.

Medical research does not account for sex differences, and that could have major public health implications for both genders in the long and short-term.  We are failing American females in the study of cardiovascular disease, lung cancer, depression, Alzheimer's, and even pregnancy induced disease.  And there is a virtual laundry list of pregnancy induced diseases and complications.

It's necessary to develop more stringent government funding to include females in medical studies and report data by sex.  Namely because diseases can look different in women and minorities, the vast majority of medical professionals are not testing for these discrepancies causing unnecessary higher rates of poverty and mortality for females and minorities.  The societal costs to Americans by continuing to neglect the already marginalized health issues of women and minorities morally supersedes any kind of monetary expense it would take to correct such an outrageously myopic foresight.

The Price of Pleasure: Porn, Sex, and Silence - Part I

This weekend I stumbled upon a 2008 documentary by filmmakers, teacher & scholar, Dr. Chyng Sun, Ph.D, Miguel Picker, and Robert Wosnitzer'The Price of Pleasure: Pornography, Sexuality, & Relationships'.

While the entire film is definitely worth a thoughtful review and is certainly not for everyone (for instance my domestic partner clamored for it to be shut off almost immediately after pressing play) and even its trailer comes with a disclaimer of: "This trailer contains scenes of sexual activity and aggression from pornographic videos."  (So it is really important to mentally prepare yourself prior to watching it, definitely don't watch it at work or with unprepared impressionable youth around, and if your TV/monitor is view-able at street level, you'd be wise to close the curtains).

Unfortunately due to time constraints I am personally unable to dissect the entire film, which is good, it's up to the viewer to do that on their own, and will instead only focus on a few highlighted points brought up by observing this truly fascinating and objective documentary.  It was really something that Sarah Katherine Lewis said that resounded the most with me.  For the low income uneducated female a choice between working the fast food or big box chain store circuit and dabbling in sex-work is an easy and understandable choice to make and is nothing less then a failure of the labor market.  Which means it's also an economic failure.  It's also a coerced choice, a byproduct of patriarchal predatory capitalistic rule in a kyriarchal oligarchal plutocracy plutonomy.  It's no choice.

Even Noam Chomsky said we needed to "...eliminate the conditions where women can't get decent jobs."  And appeared to evaluate pornography as being one of the most depraved acts one could do to a person, equating it to abuse for food.

Certainly it appeared to be the case for the "Queen of Bestiality", Bodil Joensen who was portrayed in the 2005-2006 UK series The Dark Side of Porn episode 5 of season 2 in "The Real Animal Farm".  Joensen seemed completely cornered by external life events into earning a living wage by engaging in what bestowed her her royal tittle.  Joensen is a tragic figure that should be mourned for her inability to experience human love, not celebrated for a coerced debauchery as a consequence of that fact.

This is during a time when porn's gone mainstream and is on demand, so do we sense on some level the porn addicts that can put themselves in debt?--question the effects it'll have on our budding generations's sexuality and personal relationships?  Do we all understand on some level how porn can make violence against females - a 'normalized' fetish?  How it's all of us that are extorted for monetary profits at the expense of the fabric of common decency towards each other?  And if that's how most of us feel, why would we continue to remain silent bystanders?

Susan Griffin published in 1982 her book 'Pornography and Silence: Culture's Revenge against Nature' and in the opening of her chapter on silence had this to say about not saying anything:

"Our silence. The silence and the silencing of women. The creation of authority in the image of the male. Of god in the image of the male. Rape. The burning of witches. Wife-beating. Laws against women speaking in public places. Against women preaching. The imprisonment of suffragists. Force-feeding. Harassment on the public streets. Scorn for the women who dares to act like man. A woman's love for another woman, unspoken, hidden. Our invisibility in history. The manuscripts of Sappho burned, the writing of women never published, lives of genius spent obscurely, or in domestic labor and child-rearing; the life of the mother, of the housekeeper, unimagined and unrecognized. Woman's word pronounced full of gile. A woman's testimony held suspect in court.

These several centuries of the silencing of women are a palpable presence in our lives -- the silence we have inherited has become part of us. It covers the space in which we live; it is a blank screen, and onto this screen a fantasy which does not belong to women is projected; the silence of women the very surface on which pornography is played. We become other than ourselves.

And the story does not end with this forced silencing. Just as silence leaves off, the lie begins. This lie is not only the lie the pornographer tells, but the lie a woman begins to believe about herself, or even if she does not believe it, the lie a woman tries to mimic. For since all the structures of power in her life, and all the voices of authority -- the church, the state, society, most likely even her own mother and father -- reflect pornography's fantasy, if she feels in herself a being who contradicts this fantasy, she begins to believe she herself is wrong. Wordlessly, even as a small girl, she begins to try to mold herself to fit society's image of what a woman ought to be. And that part of her which contradicts this pornographic image of womanhood is cast back into silence."

slutty selfies - ( a poem)

Ridgeliodoslynn--

--you bitches wanna try showin' some more skin?

how phat is your slim and do you only drink skim?

so selfish with your selfies, you narcissistic junkies

'cause you never post yourself frumpy or a mess but ya like to show your tummies

ta all your buddies

always looking fit, showing a little tit or a whole lotta breast,

kissing on the drunk girlfriends who always look their best

<<<at various bars>>>

&

<<<in various cars>>>

Hi hoe, hope you don't break a heel while the mens break their necks

perfect as your selfies show, I'm still seeing lil' specks

lipstick doesn't wear forever you know, and lust still must leave a dick limp at conquest

and I'm really sick of having to filter through all the selfish actions you do do

you little tempest,

see I only want the attentions of just one cock so at my behest from his page I wish he'd block

the (doo-doo) = Ridgeliodoslynns rot

before those bitches show my husband more skins from their ilk and their lot

so young and so slim

but you won't be a size four with perky boobs forever.

and with what you post I see you hoes loose with more booze a little more of your dignity weekly - so could you dress even more skimpily?

<<<I inquire sarcastically>>>

so bitch please, pack your puppies away, 'cause dogs have fleas

and some you don't even want to stay, much less look your way...

I know you think little of it all because you all have little minds

ain't everybody gotta be your "friend"--especially my man, he ain't your kind.

you don't need all men's eyes to shine on YOU all the time for the rest of your lives

ain't no crime in having a mystique to your physique

or else little girls face the wrath of all the wives

'cause the wife is the potato farm and youse all small fries

so no small wonder then when you finally become a meme 'cause I'm bettin's

you bitches don't probably properly use your privacy settin's!!!

The Duke University Porn Star, Adolescentophilia, and Predatory Capitalism Connection

18 year old Belle Knox has been dubbed the 'Duke porn star' after making headlines last month when her sideline porn gig's cover was blown by a bunch of disproportionately male fellow university students.  They initially made their presence known to Knox on her personal Facebook account with a barrage of random friend requests but she acknowledges not making the real link to her moonlighting as a porn actress being the cause to the sudden surging interest in being her friend until someone in her class started following her alter-ego Twitter feed.

As the campus slut-shaming and fallout harassment escalated, no doubt mainly being caused by her 'adoring male fans' and after Knox's true identity was revealed against her will she choose to write about her experience in a xoJane piece that went viral.

Knox's own words as to why she choice to pursue this 'career' (for the rest of us not cashing in on this 'career' choice it's otherwise known simply as just 'sex') was because she simply "couldn't afford $60,000 in tuition...I saw a way to graduate from...school free of debt..."

You mean instead of just working two or three part-time jobs and going to a community college, or without going to Seeking Arrangement, or earning a scholarship or taking out a loan, a girl can just prostitute herself out on film to put herself through university?  Get-out-of-here--no way?!   Guess Knox was spared the moral quandaries of most sugar babies when she enthusiastically embraced an industry that's currently shunning her for her lack of experience in it.

Knox elaborated further that being in porn was "something [I] absolutely love.  Because to be clear: My experience in porn has been nothing but supportive, exciting, thrilling and empowering."  Knox asserted in the tell-all tale, that it is the patriarchy that fears female sexuality.

However after also reading an article spotlighting the backlash against Knox's apparent self declared porn stardom it more so appears that she is selling her sex in patriarchal specific porn packaging back to the patriarchy she's supposedly out-crying with full intention to maximize her own profits.  It sounds like Knox's 'experience in porn' was really 'supportive' and 'empowering' when even after she stipulated that she did not want to have sex with someone over the age of 35 on set, she was still paired with a "veteran adult male performer she found "too old and disgusting," although she had approved the scene days before" and "cried" when presented with this older male talent.  Knox indicated that even though her boundaries had not been respected and that she did not know the advanced age of this adult male performer until the day of the shoot, she eventually further compromised her self-imposed boundaries by reneging on them and engaging in sex acts with an older man despite her obvious discomfort over the prospect.  And the footage is of course going to be featured on a "old man/young girl fetish site."

An 18 year old girl has a completely legitimate reason to NOT want to have sex with a man over the age of 35 and it's called adolescentophilia, in this instance.  There is absolutely no denying that throughout the porn industry, as well as thanks to the porn industry, that our culture has been slowly getting conditioned to accept adolescentophilia, especially hebephilia as normative venues to live out erotic fantasies on the adolescent and prepubescent female form.

A female presented in the context above is not only commonplace it also is a plastic ageless fantasy of a virgin-whore concept and there should be no question over the obvious pedophilia over and undertones in this image.  She literally is representational of an idea of a female form whose age could lie anywhere from four to twenty-four, her actual age, is generic.  Because ultimately, in a patriarchy, age is immaterial, it is only about accessible vagina for the preconceived male pleasure.  As virginal vagina is generally typically preferred by the human male in the patriarchal model and as corrupted innocence can get some people hot (or power-tripping), we've somehow allowed adolescentophilia/hebephilia to become permissible, even somehow understandable to the point of nonobservance when it comes to hyper-sexualization.  Hollywood has been notorious for 'age-swapping' actresses for parts 17 years away from their actual age for decades, this goes for older and younger actresses and the prospective roles they play.

The mind of a pedophile and the types and reasons of how certain men become pedophiles should be common knowledge for all but it's not--why?--because supposedly 'sex sells'?  Because the mainly male powers that be can just keep churning out any old kind of imagery without maintaining any type of media literacy for the masses or accountability to the masses, all in the name of monetary profit, and endanger the quality of life for millions and millions of kids of all ages and genders?

It shouldn't be a big shock to you that child pornography plays a huge role in the development of a pedophile, it's sought after, horded, guarded, shared.  Even the FBI admitted in 2011 it was becoming an increasing menace.  Truly, the societal costs of pornography are staggering and it's even more so staggering how it's seemingly being ignored with silence instead being addressed with candid dialogue as to what rampant accessible porn's long-term effects may be.  The porn industry has actually started to flag due to being inundated with 'talent', that some porn stars have turned to 'escorting', prostituting themselves for 'bareback' (no condom need worn) services - that's a public health issue waiting to happen.  Chlamydia prevalence among young adults in the United States is already twice that among young adults in the Netherlands.

It could easily be argued that Creepshots, RATTERs, Revenge Porn, and Girls Gone Wild are all symptoms of unchecked filmed prostitution and hyper-sexualization of our youth.  The power play of which is disproportionately male, just as this more recent development of the 'Duke porn star' exhibits perfectly.  Knox admitted to essentially being forced to perform sex acts with someone that she didn't even want to have sex with, someone that disgusted her, and blaming it on contractual obligations for her overseen follow-through is absolute total horse-shit, because she's eighteen.  She has only been alive for 10 + 8 years, the human brain doesn't even fully develop until the age of 25 so why did she do something she didn't really want to do and kidded herself she was acting on female sexual empowerment?  Well, beyond Knox's very real lack of developed Moral and Intrapersonal Intelligence, she did it for...

...the money.

Had higher education not had a high cost or even a tuition, had Knox not feared debt (like so many of us do), had America had a social support system embedded in our culture like the Swiss actually do with theirs and had Knox gotten paid to not only go to college but also got to partake in a Guaranteed $2,800 Monthly Income merely based on citizenship as they do now in Switzerland--would she still have had the need or desire to earn money in exchange for sex acts?  I think not, and I also think her argument of sex-work being "supportive, exciting, thrilling and empowering" is total bunk, especially when one of those experiences lead her to failing victim to an adolescentophilia act that made her cry on set when faced with the reality of her decision to have sex on film for money.  For if you take the work out of sex-work, all that's left is sex and sex should always be free.  Sex should not be a commodity or a ware to sell, and the only reason it is or is portrayed as being so is due to wealth inequality and the disenfranchised female in the patriarchal predatory capitalism model.

Higher education should also always be free and should not be a commodity or ware to sell because there is honor in the quest for knowledge that triumphs price-tags.  It is the unyielding pursuit of knowledge that has lead us as a creature to fantastical insights to the workings of our universe and it should not be rendered off-limits because you don't have enough money to buy into a country club of education.  A parent's income should not determine the fate of their child in a freethinking society nor limit their child's ability to obtain an education, and that's not an Utopian statement when other countries are currently capable of such social experiments.

So it seems fitting that a student of a university has brought this to our attentions and it is truly unfortunate that she has come this far in her short young life and sees no real value in nurturing her mind, because the real money's in allowing others to defile her body and compromise not just her physical boundaries, but her moral boundaries as well.

We should all be very sorry to Belle Knox that the crooked path before her has lead to her to no other recourse by which to claim fortune or fame and has even stupidly deluded herself that she is somehow a free agent despite an assortment of external factors that laid that path, sans gold bricks, before her to trod upon because we are all responsible for the virtual 'village' we've constructed to raise this child in, so she could not raise herself above it.

(Seriously looks like she could still be in middle school).

Belle Knox, I hope the next person you sleep with isn't for money and that the next person you sleep with is because you at least find them attractive if not love them outright because that's true female sexual empowerment, as well as saying no and being listened to.

And for Knox to so naively shrug off the very real discrimination facing her when she enters the 'traditional work force', when drug addicts and people that file bankruptcies are disqualified from job candidacy every day, is a jarring insight into a youth that's literally disconnected from reality.

But who pulled her plug?

Feminist Armchair Regime: "Genital mutilation isn't funny" - A Thoughtful Response

Feminist Armchair Regime: Genital mutilation isn't funny: The following is cross-posted from the  Damsel in de Tech  blog. Click  here  to see the original. Every once in a while there's a new...

I wrote what's below as a comment to this blog post (a blog I enjoy reading) however of course the comment post was too long so I'm just going to post the comment as my own blog post to serve as what I hope will be interpreted as a thoughtful response to their piece on how male castration isn't funny, male castration is NOT funny, of course, but there needs to be more dialogue on the topic.  In order to completely understand my comment, you also must read their blog post that elicited my comment.  So merely for your thoughtful consideration dear reader:

I actually disagree.  If we ever develop the type of justice system necessary to deduce without flaw or margin of error that a rapist raped or that a molester molested, I think there should be a real threat of becoming an eunuch with what you did 'scared' on your face.  If people, in particular, women, girls, boys, effeminate men, have to live in preemptive fear to take strides daily to avoid rape, torture, retardation, permanent disabilities, and death, I think that's a major problem.  I think what would balance out a rape culture is an accountability culture.  Instead we have developed a habit of avoiding becoming a victim (carrying mace as a "precaution") and the real issue of avoiding creating serial rapists/molesters/violators of other persons is completely sidelined.  It isn't funny when a man gets castrated, especially when our pool of men is steadily shrinking due to environmental toxins/endocrine disruptors, however, perhaps the best tactic to eliminate sexual violence is to eliminate the cause of that sexual violence.  And typically the weapon wielded is nothing more than an engorged penis.  I know it sounds very radical, I am not saying I am inherently right, but I do feel that at some point prison (if the offender even does get penalized) does not suffice but the patriarchy in general does not suffice.

And what is the elimination of the male foreskin?--nothing more then genital mutilation but it's accepted socially and even preferred by most as the ideal penis, circumcised vs uncircumcised, (those are "pole results" that I would like to see).

Frankly, we've already entered an era of transparency, it's already happening and technology has changed everything and no doubt will revolutionize the justice system whenever it finally does take a foothold and an era of accountability takes hold.  For instance this "Revenge Porn" phenomenon and/or "Creepshots" phenomenon, it's an abstract physical violation, not unlike engaging in coitus with someone who is incapacitated and thereby against their freewill because at its pith that is what rape is, someone decrying your ownership to your own inherent sexuality, it's instead shucked for the sexual gratification, at times, of unknown others.  How nice would it be, with just the install of an app on your Google Glasses for a single lady to access a potential sexual partner and learn that five previous sexual encounters by that male were recorded without consent and broadcast all over The Internet unknowingly and against the will of their female sexual partner, all of sudden that cute guy at the end of the bar isn't so cute anymore is he?--and to me, that would be a symbolic, electronic form of castration and one that's necessary for all the rest of us that aren't sexual deviants so we can walk freely as intelligent thinking beings with our own sexual autonomy not as dominated sexual beings, and not have to take preemptive precautions at being literally or figuratively defiled.

I tried starting this dialogue in my blog post entitled, "Revenge Porn, "Ratters", Creepshots, Is All ERAPE And This Is Why..."

Epidemic male on female rape in South Africa is what created the RapeAx device, otherwise an item born from the mother of invention due to *necessity*.  More like internal mace, it's a safeguard against rape that does threaten to mutilate the male rapist's genitalia and it serves as a rape deterrent not just for those wearing it, it serves as a rape deterrent for all females that would otherwise be targeted because, *gasping shock of air* the potential rapist is unable to discern who wears one and who doesn't until it would be too late for the rapist to know for sure.  So it reverses that aura of uncertainty and fear, it is not the woman fearing being raped it is the man fearing castration or pain to his genitals by the act of raping.

That is a serious and real power-shift.

And to critique amusement, that's a difficult thing to do because typically people laugh at uncomfortable truths!  Does it make men uncomfortable that instead of women being worried if they "wear the wrong thing" or go "to the wrong place" at the "wrong time of day" "without having a buddy system in place" or that if mothers don't have to worry about their children getting sodomized by a friend, neighbor or family member, that instead perhaps the men have to live up to a higher expectation of themselves instead of penetrating sexual beasts, does all that make them uncomfortable?--you better believe it terrifies them and brings them discomfort.  You better believe that notions of men becoming women (the true fear) by loss of penis makes most men uncomfortable as hell, which is why they laugh.  And a woman, dear sexless God, do you remember Lorena Bobbit???--an abusive relationship/marriage, that ended in castration of wife against husband in 1993 for an act of rape, I was 8 or 9 years old when that happened and that was and still is a rare concept for many to grasp back then that a wife could be raped by her husband...   ...people laugh and joke about things that make them uncomfortable for the most part and here it is 2014, and it'll sound cold, but I don't think feminists should worry themselves about male castration jokes, when there's still too many dead baby jokes, blonde jokes, and battered women jokes flying around.  Forgive me, I'm a huge fan of your work, I like what you do, but this point, I do not agree on fully.  It is also a very trivial thing to focus on when we have SO MANY social ills to correct.

Especially when chances are that the uncomfortable titters from the audience emanate from men.

In America, Nobody Cares. And This Is What It Feels Like

It's like when you have trace amounts of blood coming out of your nostrils and your anus, and nobody cares.

It's like when you're eight years old and your dad is hitting you repeatedly in a Chevy Monte Carlo going 25-35 miles an hour in stop and go suburban consumer "traffic" and everybody's staring straight ahead because it's not their fucking business if they glance away fast enough, and nobody cares.

It's like you gotta walk home in subzero temperatures at 2:30AM for a mile and a half, because, again, nobody cares.

But if someone thanks God during an Oscar acceptance speech, oh, then, then everybody fucking cares.

And if the New York Mets get brought up, oh, somebody fucking CARES then man.  Whew, boy!  Do they ever!

Or if you bring up LeBron James, then all of a sudden...  Everybody.  Fucking.  Cares.

Well you know what America?  FUCK you, fuck you from the fucking inside out baby because when blood comes out of Lady Liberty's asshole, guess what?--ain't nobody no fucking where gonna care about YOU.
